This article presents an alternative perspective on breakthrough strategies which shows that relatively small organizations using standard 'off the shelf' technologies can create strategic breakthroughs. It uses a case study of 1001 listes, a French based company that creates and manages wedding-lists, together with Henderson and Venkatraman's model of strategic alignment to show how the company's strategy and use of IT evolved over time.
